Best Astrology Apps: Which One Fits What You Want

The right astrology app depends on what you want: daily notes, a guided practice, relationship insight, live readers or detailed charts. Each popular app leans toward one of these.

There is no single best astrology app, because the popular ones are built for different needs. Co-Star and CHANI focus on daily guidance from your chart, The Pattern on personality and relationships, Sanctuary on live readings, and TimePassages on detailed charts. Below we compare them on facts we checked in the US App Store on October 12, 2026, and explain what to look for.

How we compared the apps

We did not rank these apps and we do not give them scores. Ratings change, taste differs and most published rankings are written by sites that earn a commission on downloads or subscriptions. We have no affiliate relationship with any app on this page.

Instead, we looked up each app's official US App Store listing and noted facts you can check yourself: who publishes it, which devices it runs on, what the store says is free and which in-app purchases it lists, with their prices. Prices on the App Store can change at any time and can differ by country, so treat the figures as a snapshot from our check date.

Which astrology app is best for daily guidance?

If you want a short note each day based on your own chart rather than only your Sun sign, Co-Star and CHANI are the two names most often recommended. Both are free to download and both sell extras. The difference is mostly in focus. Co-Star offers personalized daily horoscopes and lets you add friends to compare charts. CHANI comes from astrologer Chani Nicholas and adds weekly readings, rituals and meditations in its paid tier.

If you like the idea of a daily prompt but do not want another subscription, a free daily horoscope from any of these apps may be enough. Paid tiers make sense mainly if you use the app every day for months.

Which astrology app is best for relationships?

The Pattern is built around personality descriptions and how two people's charts interact, and its paid tiers include extra profile slots for comparing people. Co-Star also lets you compare charts with friends. Sanctuary takes a different route and connects you with a live astrologer or reader, which is closer to a consultation than an app feature.

You can compare two charts without any app on our synastry chart page, which lists every aspect between both charts with the orbs used. For a quicker look based on Sun, Moon, Venus and Mars, try our birth chart compatibility calculator.

Which astrology app is most accurate?

This question has two parts. The calculation, meaning the planet positions, rising sign and houses, can be checked, and established astrology software generally gets it right when your birth time and place are correct. If an app shows your positions in degrees, you can compare them with another source. If it does not show them, you cannot check.

The interpretation is another matter. No app, astrologer or website can prove that its readings are true, because astrology is a symbolic tradition, not a measurement. Be skeptical of any app that claims to be the most accurate in that second sense.

TimePassages is the app on this list that puts the chart itself at the center, with transit and progressed charts available as single purchases. If seeing the actual chart matters to you, that is the kind of app to look at. Our own method and accuracy checks are on our page about how we calculate.

Is there a good free astrology app?

All five apps in the table are free to download, and each offers something without payment, from daily horoscopes to a basic birth chart. TimePassages states in its listing that your birth chart and daily horoscope are always free. What the free tier covers changes over time, so check the current listing before you rely on it.

Watch for free trials that convert into paid subscriptions. On an iPhone, you can see and cancel subscriptions in your Apple account settings. Read the renewal terms before you start a trial.

What to check before you subscribe

A few questions help you compare any astrology app, including ones not listed here.

  • Does it ask for your birth time and place, or only your date? Without time and place there is no rising sign and no houses.
  • Does it show the actual positions, so you can check them?
  • What exactly is free, and what does the subscription add?
  • How does it renew, and how do you cancel?
  • What happens to your data? Read the privacy section of the listing.
  • Does it make promises about love, money or health? Astrology cannot keep those.

An option without an app

We are not an app, and we are not in the comparison above for that reason. Nymelia is a website with free calculators that show their math: your big three, Venus sign, north node, life path number and more. You can use them in any browser without an account.

If you want everything in one place, our personal reading combines your birth chart and your numerology in one written document for a one-time $29, with no subscription. It is a different kind of product from a daily app: something you read once and keep, rather than something you open every morning. Everything we offer is for entertainment and self-reflection.
